In Canada, this pet insurance company  is known as Vetinsurance. They have launched a new US brand of dog insurance under the name Trupanion. The Trupanion policies are available in over 30 states, with plans to expand to all 50 states.

Pre-existing Conditions for Dog Insurance Purposes:

Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions

Trupanion does not cover Hip dysplasia. But they do have  optional coverage available for dogs enrolled before 1st birthday.

Types of Pet Insurance Coverage Included:

All diagnostic tests, surgeries, and medications (including hereditary and congenital disorders).

Dog Drug and Dental Insurance Available?

May be included in some plans.

Who is Eligible?

Trupanion insures dogs between 8 weeks and 14 years of age. There are no penalties imposed for aging pets.
