Basic Dog Grooming Equipment

Dog grooming becomes a more amusing activity once you have all the materials you need for proper grooming. Brace yourself though and take some time to prepare financially because getting high quality dog grooming equipment can be a little costly, but you can be sure that it’s going to be worth your money. After all, grooming helps a lot in keep your dog healthy and happy.
Some basic dog grooming equipment and accessories that you need to have are the following:
1. Combs and Brushes. They come in different types and sizes. Get a medium-sized brush to be able to brush your dog’s head, tail and body effectively. Also, buy a small brush so you can also comb those hard to reach, small areas like the ones behind your dog’s ears as well as its chin, neck and the sides of its legs. Buy at least one smooth metal comb that will help you untangle knots in your dog’s hair.
2. Soaps and Shampoos. Remember to get the right type for your dog’s breed. Try a small-sized shampoo or soap of a brand of your choice first and see if your pet seems to like it, and whether you like it too.
3. Clippers. Go for clippers used by professionals because you will be using this for quite a long time. Try to study how it’s used though.
4. Blow Dryers. You can use your own blow dryer for your dog, but keep in mind that you will be doing a lot of hair drying for your dog so better get it its own dryer that fits its size – and its hair.
5. Towels. Your pet deserves its own towel. Get a white towel so you can easily see when it gets soiled and dirty, and in the process, get it cleaned immediately too.
6. Toothbrush. There’s a special kind of toothbrush for dogs. There are usually two-headed toothbrushes which have a small brush on one end, and a bigger one on the other. Some come with toothpaste, too.
